Particular attention is paid to the role of music in the history of show from melodrama to music hall, from dance to theatre. Even the musicology magazine “Sonus-Material per la musica moderna e contemporanea” founded in 1989 collaborates on this section. Starting from the cues taken from the magazine and trying to collect even texts not strictly connected to it, we present a section devoted to contemporary music aimed to outline main aspects and unexpected changes. We also take into consideration personal texts providing new points of view for the ones, no matter if there are just a few or many of them, who want to have much more information on Visual Music. The fact that a magazine dealing with visual art images also includes a musical section doesn’t necessarily obligate us but lead us to focus on subjects considering music as a performing art. Particular attention is paid to dramaturgy as regards sound, space and setting. Even subjects such as scenery and staging of operas and mainly the works of great masters, the development of scenic technique, the lights and the performing dimension of characters on the stage will be taken into consideration.
